With a career spanning over 30 years and many exhibitions, Brigitta Zeumer (born 1939, Germany) has moved from watercolour landscapes to freer abstractions in acrylic in recent years. Her works are characterised by elements of realism and romanticism, touched by a quiet, mediative mood of great depth and lyric. But they can also be witty and playful, brimming with energy and exuberance. Zeumer´s style is light and informal but resonates powerfully with thought and meaning conveying much with the sheer stroke of the brush. Her poetic pictures are a reflection and expression of the amalgamation of her affinities towards traditional Chinese art and Asian spirituality as well as her Western training.
